Raven

Gandolph on intake

All three of our ravens came to us from Alaska.  Gandolph was a rehab who could not be released due to a partial wing amputation, Merlin and Morgana spent the first two years of their lives being used as bait to capture adult ravens.  For this reason, they do not care much for humans.  Training of these three has proven to be quite a challenge.

Ravens from Alaska are much larger than ravens in this part of the country.  All three of these birds are larger than our black vulture.  They also use both their talons and their beaks as weapons, making them much more challenging than the raptors for training.

Native Americans believe that the raven is the Trickster God, known by many tribes under many names. There is more to raven than meets the eye. And how many of you have met the eye of a raven? They've always been associated with Godliness. Few people know that the first bird out of Noah's ark was a raven. It just didn't return. It didn't feel the need.
