Chinchilla
These three chinchillas were born in January of 2004. There are two females and a male and the male has been neutered. Sadly, their owner passed away, so these guys need a loving home. They are a bit skittish and need a a few dust baths. They need an understanding home.
Since being fostered by a good friend of ours, they are looking worlds better and have become much less skittish.
Just look how much better these guys are looking now! The one on the left is the female and the one on the right is the male.

Interesting Facts: |
Chinchillas have incredibly dense fur, that actually has from 80 to 120 hairs per follicle. It is so dense in fact, that fleas can't penetrate it. They have an interesting defense mechanism that allows them to "throw" their fur if they are caught. This gives predators a mouth and face full of fur, allowing the chin a minute to get away. |
